In the early hours of 23 March, fifteen Palestinian emergency workers were killed by a barrage of Israeli gunfire. Four weeks later, an Israeli military report has admitted responsibility, but says its soldiers believed they were operating in a situation of real danger. The report has been denounced by the Palestinian Red Crescent as being full of lies.

Russian and Ukrainian Christians have celebrated Easter Sunday as their political leaders have accused each other of violating an Easter truce announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin. In the U.S. capital of Washington DC, hundreds of Ethiopians dressed in traditional white shawls called the "netela" are chanting in the ancient liturgical language of one of the oldest branches of Christianity. They are part of a church that hopes to keep the traditions and the language of the Ethiopian Orthodox Church alive.
