The second term of United States President Donald Trump is underway with the controversial leader generating headlines with his new policy agenda. President Trump's executive orders have seen the US withdrawing from the World Health Organisation and the Paris Climate Agreement abroad while, at home, he's pardoned 1,500 January 6 rioters and has begun to clamp down on immigration. He's also announced a new private investment of up to $797 billion to make the U-S an artificial intelligence superpower.

Israeli security forces have raided the volatile West Bank city of Jenin, killing at least nine Palestinians. The action comes as Israel’s army chief resigns over the security breach in Hamas' Oct 7 attack in 2023.

Donald Trump's inauguration is receiving mixed reactions in Australia. For Labor it is a step forward in strengthening bilateral ties between both countries. But the Coalition questions Foreign Minister Penny Wong's integrity as she attended the inauguration.
